tabula_rasa is a seasonal gathering in which a rotating cast of practitioners explore real-time expression through improvisation and audience participation.
Dissolving the boundary between performer and observer, the night becomes a shared act; harnessing the energy in the room to create sincere dialogue and communion.
Rooted in spontaneity and guided by the subconscious, tabula rasa renders in real time, unrehearsed and uninhibited, breaking free from the confines of perfection to honour the magic of the moment.
canvas 5: Canvas 5 begins in breath and tone; an opening meditation followed by an improvisation between Ku-Ro {saxophone}, starless {poetry}, and black:ECHO weaving a live sonic bed beneath them, three currents weaving in real time.
From there, the room becomes the page. Using the découpé (cut-up) technique popularised by William Burroughs, guests are invited to construct a collaborative text; fragments spliced, rearranged, made strange.
Words gathered in communion will be reinterpreted and rendered sonically as the night unfolds, shifting from ink to atmosphere.
The evening culminates in a new audiovisual offering by black:ECHO titled Song of Spring — an ode to renewal, to emergence, to the quiet insistence of the turning season.

With a child-like temperament, Ku-Ro roams the stage with a tender heart in one hand and chaos in the other. Shedding light on darkness, while trying to find the light themselves. Through their raw articulation through lyricism, Saxophone outbursts, fragmented soundscapes that blur the lines between reality and the imagination.
